    What is Digital 2011?

    A national event designed to extend the connections and opportunities in Scotland’s digital and creative sectors. It is the first annual event from partners Interactive Scotland, AmbITion Scotland and the Scottish Centre for Enabling Technology

    This year, the theme is ‘Monetising Content’

    Where? The SECC in Glasgow

    Who is it for?

    Those in the digital and creative industries looking to grow their business, learn new skills, make new connections and build new partnerships

    Why should I attend?

    The global digital content market is currently expanding exponentially. We’re well positioned in Scotland to maximise this opportunity due to the emerging ecology between the creative and digital sectors.     Roger is an independent management and marketing consultant, working in the arts and entertainment sector internationally. Regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on integrated solutions and developing on-line technologies for ticketing and marketing, he is a keynote speaker at conferences in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. He is particularly interested in the way digital technologies are changing the ways people can relate to arts organisations and how they can develop audiences. He produces the www.TheTicketingInstitute.com (not yet live) information website and, following on from work with the AMA he produces his blog website www.brandinyourhand.ning.com.

    His books include FULL HOUSE Turning Data Into Audiences, BOXING CLEVER, DEVELOPING AND MANAGING A WEB SITE and the BOX OFFICE MARKETING GUIDES, and JobWatch (about equal opportunities recruitment), and the Data Protection Guide, both published by the AMA.

    He has completed major studies on the integration of ticketing across arts and entertainment organisations and regularly manages the procurement process for customer-facing technologies. He works with arts organisations on the development of effective websites and on optimising websites and transaction process flows to improve on-line sales and audience development.

    Your online copy is how you present your organisation and its work to the world wide web. It has to persuade and attract existing and potential audiences of all demographics. Should you segment online audiences? Should different copy be produced for different audience segments online? How do you work out what to say to whom, and in what tone of voice!

    With almost ten years experience writing and editing online content in the arts, tourism, education, financial and private sectors, Jonathan has a wide knowledge of communicating with a variety of audiences.

    Since 2007 he has also written freelance for print publications and is currently film critic for the Edinburgh Evening News. Jonathan also owns and edits national film website, ReelScotland.

    Speaker Biography: Damien Smith, ISO

    Damien Smith is a founding partner of digital designers ISO, producers of the creative social network Central Station.

    ISO have produced leading edge digital projects in television, online and experience design for over 10 years. Winners of the Royal Television Society Award for graphics, they designed the visual interface for the BBC iPlayer and are presently developing large scale interactive installations for cultural clients across the UK and Europe.

    Central Station was funded by Scottish Screen and Channel 4′s 4iP fund for online innovation. Winner of a Scottish Arts Council Inspire Award it is the country’s leading social network for new talent across film, design and contemporary art.
