  1. Web 2.0 in action

Sydney’s “Powerhouse Museum” has a new blog style website aimed at discussions around the use of digital media in museums.

What both me and Hannah {Rudman} liked about it, was that it has actually sat up and done – using very simple tools (the free to use WordPress platform) – what a lot of web developers just talk about.

We’ve all known for a long time that simple tools can make it much easier to aggregate and disseminate material, but still website developments can get bogged down in “old school” thinking – which is reliant on expensive external development. We realise there’s still a need for this kind of website for certain organisations and projects – and the Powerhouse’s own “public” website is still of this type (albeit a very good example: www.powerhousemuseum.com) but this is an example of someone who has actually done the difficult bit and “implemented” a simple solution in a successful way.

Maybe, when you’re looking at your own web developments then this is another example to throw into the mix…
